S.A.F.E. Outline

S.A.F.E. Solutions has developed a model that deals with skills development in problem solving and leadership and has carefully designed a program that participants will engage in throughout the two courses. The S.A.F.E Solutions Model was designed for children and youth between the ages of 12 and 17 years old or older. The model includes students from various backgrounds and socio-economic groups and learning limitations. Model covers a step by step approach for the facilitator and for the student. The children and youth who are able to work independently are to be encouraged to gain self-confidence. The lessons are designed to facilitate individual and group work.

The scheduling, objectives, and methodology for teaching the program are outlined in the lessons wherever the sessions are held, at home at school or in the community in keeping with the needs of the students' age group or learning capacity. The model is comprised of two courses, one course in Problem Solving and the other in Leadership. Each course consists of thirteen lessons. The lessons are presented weekly to facilitate teaching and learning. On a weekly basis there will ample time for the student to complete the lesson. The built-in flexibility allows for adjustments for the trainee and the trainer.

The courses are accessible on the internet and the student stands to benefit from the convenience and efficiency of the program online. From the perspective of the S.A.F.E. Solutions Model, children and youth will be able to proceed using a program that is consistent and designed specifically for them. The model is built around a partnership between the student and the facilitator, mainly the parent(s) who is required to be involved in educating the student to reach his or her full potential. At the beginning of the training process, the interview and the orientation are conducted in support of the student to determine the specific needs and to gear the program to the needs.
